GREMI Unveils City Campus in Ahmedabad, Launches India’s First Structured Degree-Linked Real Estate Education Initiative
GREMI, Gujarat’s first AICTE-approved real estate institution, has inaugurated its City Campus at Million Minds Tech City in Ahmedabad with an initial investment of Rs 500 crore. The institute will admit its first batch in August 2026 and aims to establish a 100-acre world-class university dedicated to real estate, urban development, research, innovation, and professional education.
The launch of the City Campus represents a major milestone in GREMI’s vision of establishing a formal, industry-aligned academic ecosystem for real estate education in India. Supported by Ganesh Housing Limited, the institute is founded on the belief that balanced urban development can only be achieved when town planning is supported by structured education, innovation, and modern thinking.
The inauguration was held alongside the Phase 1 launch of Million Minds Tech City, reflecting the integration of education, employment, and innovation within the rapidly growing Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar corridor. GREMI’s City Campus is designed as a live learning environment that will connect students directly with the built-environment industry. Simultaneously, the institute has outlined a long-term vision to establish a dedicated 100-acre university campus in Ahmedabad. An application seeking Deemed University status under a distinct category has already been submitted to the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The launch brought together a unique convergence of education, industry, and government support. The institution is positioned within a live employment district, backed by significant long-term capital investment and supported at the highest levels of government. Addressing industry leaders and academic stakeholders, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah and Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel reiterated the commitment of the Central and State Governments toward quality housing, urban development, infrastructure growth, and a holistic approach to real estate management and development.
The public unveiling of GREMI’s long-term vision for a 100-acre integrated teaching, research, and residential university campus, supported by an initial investment of Rs 500 crore, marks the beginning of a world-class centre of excellence dedicated exclusively to the built-environment sector.
Speaking at the event, Shri Amit Shah said that Gujarat has already emerged as one of India’s strongest industrial growth engines and is now advancing toward becoming a global hub for technology, innovation, and high-skilled services. He stated that projects such as Million Minds Tech City would create world-class infrastructure and employment opportunities while positioning Ahmedabad among the country’s leading technology destinations. He further noted that the launch of GREMI City Campus reflects the growing need for industry-linked talent and knowledge ecosystems capable of supporting Gujarat’s next phase of growth across technology, real estate, infrastructure, and innovation-driven sectors.
Commenting on the initiative, Shekhar Patel, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ganesh Housing Limited and Chairman of the Governing Council of GREMI, said that India is urbanising at an unprecedented scale and speed, creating demands that require a new generation of professionals equipped not only to construct buildings but also to plan, finance, govern, and sustain urban environments. He stated that GREMI has been established to develop such professionals and emphasised that the commitment of the Ganesh Foundation reflects the responsibility of building institutions that will shape the quality of future cities.
Dr. Anil Kashyap, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of GREMI, said that the institute’s objective extends beyond producing industry-ready professionals. He emphasised the institute’s commitment to contributing to research, policy discussions, and innovation within the built-environment sector.
Upon completion, the main campus is expected to accommodate more than 2,000 students within a fully integrated academic ecosystem. The institution plans to offer postgraduate education and advanced professional learning across real estate development and finance, construction technology and project management, urban planning and infrastructure, housing and policy studies, sustainability and green development, smart cities and future urban systems, real estate law and governance, and technology integration in the built environment.
GREMI’s flagship Postgraduate Certificate in Management (PGCM) in Real Estate Development and Management will remain the cornerstone of its academic offerings. The Founding Cohort for 2026 consists of approximately 70 students already admitted for the August academic session. Through its programmes, the institute aims to establish real estate education as a credible and aspirational career pathway while creating a strong foundation for research, innovation, and policy engagement.
GREMI is associated with the Mahamati Skill and Education Foundation (MSEF), a not-for-profit organisation established under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013. The foundation was envisioned by Shekhar Patel, Director of Ganesh Housing Limited and National President of CREDAI. MSEF operates independently and undertakes its initiatives through financial support received from associated entities and family trusts.
The Ganesh Real Estate Management Institute has been established to create a structured education ecosystem for India’s real estate and built-environment sectors. With a focus on real estate education, leadership development, and industry-oriented research, the institute seeks to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and the evolving requirements of urban development. Having secured approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), GREMI has become Gujarat’s first institution exclusively dedicated to the real estate sector. Developed under the broader vision of Ganesh Housing Limited, the institute aims to produce future-ready professionals with multidisciplinary expertise in planning, finance, execution, governance, and technology.
Headquartered in Ahmedabad, the Mahamati Skill and Education Foundation is committed to advancing holistic educational development and delivering professional skill-building programmes that address employment challenges. Under the leadership of Shekhar Patel and Dr. Anil Kashyap, the foundation strives to enhance career readiness, improve socioeconomic mobility, and create lasting community impact. GREMI, as an initiative of the foundation, will initially operate from its campus at Million Minds Tech Park before transitioning to its planned 100-acre dedicated campus envisioned as a specialist hub covering the entire real estate management lifecycle.
